Overall: -6 Passagesmalibu com customers & affiliates reviews, comments, possible complaints I found a copy of "The alcoholism & adddiction cure".
The son's account of being a junkie is, frankly, a joke.
90% pure heroin, "shanty town" dealers named Apeman, please!!.
The dealer may sell pain and misery, but at least ya know what your gettin'.
Good luck to all working toward recovery, I sincerly doubt it can be found between the covers of this piece of garbage!

Passagesmalibu com customers & affiliates reviews, comments, possible complaints I don't know anything about Prentiss; however, he indicates a measure of disdain for AA.
I've been sober for 23 years as a result of following the AA 12 step program and am most grateful that I don't have to get divorced, get into car wrecks and go broke any more! AA isn't for everyone...some aren't ready to get fundamentally honest, admit their wrongdoings and develop some type of spiritual life. Those who are - get to live happy ever after!

Passagesmalibu com customers & affiliates reviews, comments, possible complaints We all seek a quick fix from our struggles..that is why alcohol and drugs work so well for a while..
I have tried many outlets;but N.A. and A.A. along with therapy group and individual saved my life.
There is no quick cure; if you want you can contact me anytime for support.
The hard work of getting clean is HARD; that is why the success rate of any system, program is going to be low to moderate. We have to be willing to do things that are not easy; but things that are worth it. I can see and know of better things to do with 67 plus grand a month;that will help you and others, Timothy

Passagesmalibu com customers & affiliates reviews, comments, possible complaints I am seriously thinking about going to Passages....need feedback. I am using alcohol to suppress feelings on a daily basis...don't want some stupid person to tell me I am an alcoholic. I am not and just want to get rid of bad feelings.

Passagesmalibu com customers & affiliates reviews, comments, possible complaints I read Pax's summary of his problem and recovery and
can only come to one conclussion, He suffered from
anxiety, depression and low self esteem, not addiction. I deal with people everyday who deal with
these prob;ems and many others, by drinking or using
drugs. So long as the problems persist, so will the
substance abuse. The two should never be confused.
Addiction is real and is a matter of life and death.

Passagesmalibu com customers & affiliates reviews, comments, possible complaints Of all the substance abuse treatment programs NONE provide a "guarantee" of success. The recovery success for 12 step programs [support groups, NOT treatment] (i.e., A.A., C.A., N.A., etc.) in-patient, day-treatment, out-patient, or dual-diagnosis treatment programs however "renowned" is no better than 20%. This is easily researched online. As a researcher & treatment specialist in chemical dependency for the past 30 years I have studied the problem quite thoroughly.
What works for one is not necessarily appropriate for another. It is that simple. There is no ONE WAY to address this most problematic disorder. It is simply too complex. Do your own research on any TREATMENT program before spending your money on their care.

Passagesmalibu com customers & affiliates reviews, comments, possible complaints After 18 years of drinking and drug use, I got clean and sober by attending a treatment facility and getting involved in AA. After a period of about 7 yrs. of sobriety, I quit going to AA and addressing my recovery. I began drinking and using again. I read Chris' book and was intrigued by his approach to treatment. I welcomed the opportunity to get away from my troubles and go to Malibu where I was treated with respect and dignity. I engaged myself in what his program had to offer and felt very good once I left. Upon returning home, I relapsed after 30 days. I then decided to return to AA again. This has worked very well for me and I am now living clean and sober. Passages helped me get my recovery started. I learned to address my problem mentally, physically and spiritually. As others have stated, we are all different in how we deal with recovery. I have found that as I accept responsibility for myself by doing something each day, I am successful. I have not found the magic pill or cure from my addiction. Hard work, a relationship with God as I understand Him and working with others in recovery is what has worked for me. I believe Chris Prentiss went to every length to help his son Pax whom he loved very much to get clean. He then decided to start Passages with his son and to offer what worked for them to others. I see no wrong in what they are doing. If you dont like their approach, go somewhere else! If you dont like the price, go somewhere else!

It sounds like an interesting approach.

Passagesmalibu com customers & affiliates reviews, comments, possible complaints I was looking for a miracle. After searching many different locations I found Passages. My first phone call was so very comforting, I was sure I had found the CURE. Do not be fooled. It is a lovely vacation. Make no mistake if you find the CURE does not work for you, say goodbye to your $50k. I am currently writing a book on addiction. You will find a complete description on Passages Malibu. Good Luck.

Passagesmalibu com customers & affiliates reviews, comments, possible complaints I just want to say I agree with the concept that passages believes in. I am not sure about the disease concept so much. I think everyone who abuses a a substance what ever it may be, drugs or alcohol it is a fix for an underlying condition mental condition more than anything else. The chemical inbalance is created by the drugs or alcohol or could be there before a person started using. When you find out what makes you get high that is the first step to recovery. If you don't uncover what the true problem is and address it you will always relapse. Fix yourself first then kick the habit.
Addiction is physical though, it is just as hard if not harder than finding what your deep down problem is.
Find out what makes you get high first, what is the real reason. Then work on the addiction part.
Quitting drugs and alcohol after years of using is something that should be done under a doctors care.
You can literally die from withdrawls if not treated with something to help your body make the transition to getting clean and sober.
I do agree, once and addict kicks the habit you can never go back to casual use ever again or you will relapse.
