Don't do it, they will put your money on hold and as soon as you deposit a significant ammount of money they freeze the account claiming that it needs verification according to the patriot act (that's their excuse) why didn't they verify the ID before they accepted the funds. This is illegal, meanwhile they will use your money to collect interest and charge you $1 every time you call CS...file a BBB complaint, and avoid these people as much as possible.

Accoutnow is a scam, illegal suspension of funds and deceptive business practice against the unsuspecting public with credit problems, lawsuit in progress and FTC follow up.

I was sent an unsolicited prepaid Visa card from Account Now which I immediately placed in the shredder. Ever other day, I receive an email from them asking why haven't I activitated the card. Why? Because it was sent unsolicited. Why would I need a prepaid anything when I already have a bank accounts and credit cards. Sheesh!

I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE ,BUT, IT SEEMS FUNDS ARE BEING DEDUCTED A LITTLE AT A TIME.I CHECKED MY BALANCE A LITTLE OVER A WEEK AGO. I MADE NO PURCHESES ,BUT MY ACCOUNT BALANCE SEEMS TO BE $7.00 SHORTER. I WILL BE STARTING THE NEW YEAR WITH A DIFFERENT MORE RELIABLE BANK

I have used accountnow for the past 3-4 years.. Had my tax refund deposited in 2010 and 2011 with no problems, funds were available immediately after clearing. This year however is a different story. They restricted use of my account the day before my tax refund was going to clear. I called and they told me I had to fax a copy of my ID, SS Card and a bill. So I did within 30 min. And was told to wait 24-48 hours and they would call. They never called, so I did lastnight only for the risk dept guy(who I waited for almost an hour to speak to- JEFF) tells me they need a copy of my 1099 or W2, Im self employed, so I sent my 1099. And I was told to call today. My tax money has been in my account for 3 full days now. The same thing is happening to my fiances account.. We have over $8000 waiting for us to use towards our bills and all. And we cant even use it. We have 3 little ones, they wouldnt want anyone to hold onto their money like this. I understand they may need to verify our accounts and all, but why does it need to take 3+ days to do so? I filed a report with BBB and am asking if anyone else has this happened and what are the end results? Did you get your money back? How soon? Email me if need be gr8stdadof3@aol.com

I've been using Account Now for almost 4 years and have had no problems with it at all. The customer service has been great, and when ever I have a question I can call and it's answered on the spot. I guess you just have the sense to know that if you're using a prepaid debit account that you're not going to get the "check service" in a timely manner or without fees.

Account now froze my son's account with an $8000 tax refund. We have sent in enough documents to fill lake michigan but its never enough. They give you the fax number to their "so-called" risk department but fax always comes back NG which means no good. phony fax number or routed somewhere else. The account is now suddenly closed and has zero balance. We asked where the money went and they said if its not in your account then you must of spent it. This is definately an identity theft ring. I suddenly have 2 prepaid accounts when i log in on line. hmmmm. i remember having only one.. Their plan is to get the refund. close your account make you fax in your identity, then they open another fradulent account with a different card number in your name that you are unaware of. The money sits in that account and they get rich off of the interest. Meanwhile it suddenly disappears and our accounts are closed..definately definately a financial crime, money laundering, illegal diversion of federal funds, identity theft etc..they have broken every law possible and nobody has done anything about this. I cant believe over 400 complaints to BBB in 2011 and not shut down yet.. I sent email complaints of a class action suit and fbi investigation to the accountnow customer service and Bancorp Bank. I have also filed with BBB, The FDIC, Fed Reserve, Attorney General..Im taking this one all the way to the top of the list.. My son has a sick baby in the hospital and a 2 year old daughter to fee

STAY AWAY FROM ACCOUNTNOW.........my tax refund was deposited on this card. Accountnow froze my account, I was told to fax in documents verifying my identiy. After taking with a customer service rep, I was told that my docs were recieved and were being reviewed. I called back the next day and another rep told me they never received my fax. They refuse to release my money.........please we need to do something about this company. If anyone is interested in a class action lawsuit please contact me at sweetshasa@yahoo.com.... THANKS

I had my Federal rax returns sent to account now. Because the main account holder is under my name, and the taxes had my husbands name first they froze the account. I faxed them everything they needed and even the IRS contacted them...and they still havent fixed it! Now when I just checked my account, my money is gone!!! What do I do?? Please help!!! Note: I have spent several hours on hold just so they can hang up!

File with the attorney general, bbb, fdic and fed reserve if enough people get together and file with the same issue it will send red flags and they will have to investigate..legally they can't "keep" our money but they can hold it UP using the patriot act and privacy laws..they are definitely running a shady business I've already got my acknowledgement letter from AG and bbb..just waiting to be lead in the right direction..ACCOUNTNOW also did the same thing to my son..he lost $8000..
